Walkthrough

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter the start URL

We crawl outward from that URL up to 200 internal pages, staying on the same hostname.

  2. 2

    Review the crawled pages

Filter out pages you don't want indexed before downloading. Most CMSs need to exclude tags, archives, and search pages.

  3. 3

    Download your sitemap.xml

Drop the file into your site root. Submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.

  4. 4

    Re-generate after major changes

Anytime you publish a batch of new content or restructure URLs, regenerate to keep it fresh.

Why it matters

A small detail that compounds.

A sitemap doesn't make Google rank you, but it dramatically speeds up discovery - especially for new sites and freshly published articles.

For sites under a few hundred URLs, a hand-built sitemap is fine. Past that, you really want it auto-generated and auto-updated as you publish.

With Sight AI

Auto-managed, auto-pinged.

Sight AI maintains your sitemap as a live artifact. Every time we publish a new article, the sitemap updates and we ping Google and Bing via IndexNow - so new content is discovered in minutes, not days.

Combined with our internal linking and clean technical defaults, your articles compound into stronger ranking power over time.

  • Always-up-to-date sitemap, no manual regen
  • IndexNow pings to Bing + Google on publish
  • Smart exclusions - tags, archives, search pages
  • Splits into sitemap index past 50k URLs automatically
FAQ

Common questions.

How big a site can this tool crawl?

We cap at 200 pages per run to be polite to source servers. For larger sites, your CMS or framework is the right place to generate sitemaps automatically.

Why are some pages missing from my crawl?

We only follow internal <a href> links from each page. Orphaned pages (no links pointing to them) won't be discovered. JS-rendered links also get missed.

Should I include lastmod?

Yes - when it's accurate. Faking lastmod on every crawl will eventually hurt trust. We leave lastmod blank in this generator since we can't reliably determine it from a single fetch.

Where do I submit the sitemap?

Google Search Console → Sitemaps. Bing Webmaster Tools → Sitemaps. And add a Sitemap: directive at the bottom of your robots.txt.
